Here are some questions that we get asked quite a lot. If your enquiry is not covered here, please feel free to contact us.
General FAQ
Do you offer flying lessons?
Although several of our members are flight instructors, we are unable to offer lessons in our group aircraft G-MCLY. We do not have suitable insurance and are not a commercial organisation.
Do you offer scenic flights / can you fly me to X destination?
We are not permitted to advertise or conduct commercial flight experience flights to the general public, as we are a group of private individuals and UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) regulations prohibit this. However, we are permitted to carry passengers who share the cost of the flight with the pilot. You can read more about this in the CAA guidelines on Cost sharing flights.
What facilities does your Clubhouse have?
Our Clubhouse has a kitchen with tea & coffee making facilities. We have a seating/meeting area with chairs and tables for pre-flight briefings. We also have male and female toilets. Our Clubhouse is available for private hire/use at competitive rates.
What are the Clubhouse opening hours?
We do not operate set opening times. The Clubhouse is opened as and when members are using it.
What dangers should I be aware of when visiting the airfield?
During normal business hours access is via the Thursford Road main gate. During weekends and evenings visitors will need to use the Bull Close Lane entrance which directly adjoins the active taxiway, and is near to the grass strip 10/28 (adjascent to the taxiway). Visitors using the Bull Close Lane entrance to Little Snoring Airfield should exercise caution when entering the taxiway by car. The taxiway is active at all times and some aircraft take off and land on it. Look left, look right – both on the ground and in the air before you enter.
Once again, enter at your own risk and McAully Flying Group Limited cannot be held responsible for any damages howsoever caused.
Can I leave my car at the airfield?
Yes, but you do so entirely at your own risk. McAully Flying Group Limited cannot be held responsible for any damages howsoever caused. Please let us know by email if you intend to park overnight. A gentle reminder if you do choose to park – donations are always welcome!
